How to Pack for Shipment

A Quick Guide to Packing Properly

When you are shipping a product to us for service, packing is very important. Please note that shipping damage on warranty returns, caused by improper packaging, is not covered. Here are some tips on how to pack your product.

Tips

  • Use sturdy boxes with flaps intact. Use double-wall boxes for heavier items.
  • If reusing a box, make sure there are no holes, tears or corner dents.
  • Cover sharp or protruding edges with taped corrugated panels or pads.
  • Make sure your box is large enough to put adequate padding around contents.
  • Use a minimum of 2“- 3“ of packing material all around the item - more for fragile items. Do NOT use loose styrofoam peanuts.
  • Use enough packing material so that the item does not shift or move during transit.
  • If you’re shipping more than one item in a box, wrap each one separately and put sufficient packing material between items.

Do Not Use Styrofoam (Peanuts or Otherwise)

Styrofoam is not recommended due to the likelihood of static electricity. If you have no choice, put the unit in a bag first, and then into the box. The unit shown below was packed in styrofoam and had to be extensively cleaned before repair, resulting in an extra charge not covered by the warranty.
